The Pan Niger Delta Forum (PANDEF), the leading socio-political organisation of the South-South region, has joined Nigerians at home and abroad in celebrating the birthdays of two prominent Niger Delta leaders—Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State and former Bayelsa State Governor, Senator Seriake Dickson. The leaders marked their 51st and 60th birthdays respectively.
In a goodwill message signed by PANDEF National Chairman, Ambassador (Dr.) Godknows Boladei Igali, OON, and issued by the Forum’s Board of Trustees and National Executive Committee, the organisation described the birthdays as an occasion of thanksgiving for the lives of leaders whose contributions to governance, peace-building, and democratic consolidation have significantly impacted the Niger Delta and Nigeria.
The statement noted that while the celebrations occur during a challenging period for the region, the Niger Delta remains grateful for the calibre of leadership exhibited by both Governor Fubara and Senator Dickson, who PANDEF said have consistently demonstrated selfless service, political maturity, and unwavering commitment to equity, fairness, and justice.
At 51, Governor Fubara has been recognised as a forward-looking leader redefining governance in Rivers State through decisive leadership and people-centred policies. PANDEF praised his administration for reshaping the state’s socio-economic landscape, boosting infrastructure, peace, and inclusive development, while reinforcing public trust in democratic institutions.
Senator Dickson, marking his 60th birthday, was hailed as a symbol of principled leadership and enduring statesmanship. Reflecting on his tenure as Bayelsa Governor and his current role in the Senate, PANDEF said he remains “a voice of reason, candour, and conscience” in national affairs, contributing to policy and legislative debates that strengthen democracy, national unity, and constitutional governance
The Forum applauded both leaders for their roles in promoting peace, stability, and sustainable development in the South-South region, noting that their leadership continues to support nation-building and democratic consolidation in Nigeria. PANDEF also commended other selfless leaders and citizens of the Niger Delta whose efforts, often unsung, are critical to the progress and unity of the region.
In concluding the statement, PANDEF offered prayers for continued wisdom, guidance, and blessings upon Governor Fubara, Senator Dickson, and all leaders committed to the welfare and development of the Niger Delta and Nigeria.
