Residents of Fufore/Song Federal Constituency in Adamawa State have mobilised over ₦20m within seven days to support the re-election of their representative in the House of Representatives, Aliyu Wakili Boya.
The initiative, driven by a group known as Fufore Concerned Citizens and led by Bamanga Hayatu, was initially aimed at raising ₦10m for the purchase of the nomination form.
However, contributions surpassed the target, rising to ₦20,114,700 from more than 200 donors ahead of the formal unveiling of the campaign.
Organisers described the exercise as a voluntary show of appreciation for what they termed effective representation and developmental projects attracted to the constituency by the lawmaker.
They noted that the donations, which cut across various segments of the constituency, including community leaders, professionals, youths and other residents, reflected widespread confidence in Boya’s leadership.
Some of the major contributors reportedly donated millions of naira, further boosting the campaign fund beyond its initial purpose.
The group added that the funds realised would not only cover the cost of the nomination form but also support other aspects of the re-election campaign.
Boya, a legal practitioner and former Chairman of Fufore Local Government, currently heads the House Committee on Police Institutions.
He has been credited with facilitating projects in the constituency, including legislative efforts towards the establishment of a Federal College of Health Sciences and Technology in Song.
The fundraising committee disclosed that donations were still ongoing, indicating sustained momentum ahead of the next general elections.
Observers say the development underscores a growing trend of grassroots-driven political support, as constituents increasingly rally behind candidates they believe have delivered on their mandate.
