A father in Ijebu Ode, Ogun State, has been arrested by police for allegedly subjecting his biological daughter to years of sexual abuse, impregnating her five times and procuring illegal abortions each time.
The suspect, identified as Oluwadamilare Ewedemi, was apprehended following a report filed by the survivor, now 21, at the Ifo Division of the Ogun State Police Command on March 26, 2026.
According to the survivor, whose identity was withheld, she lost her mother in infancy and was placed in a motherless home in Ikeja, Lagos State, by her father before he brought her to Ijebu Ode in 2019 on the pretext of providing guardianship.
She alleged that the sexual abuse commenced that same year and persisted over several years, resulting in five pregnancies, each of which her father arranged to terminate.
The survivor told police she fled her father’s residence on February 1, 2026, following escalating harassment, and took refuge at a church on Pakoto mountain.
When contacted, the Police Public Relations Officer, Oluseyi Babaseyi, confirmed the arrest to our correspondent.
He said, “On 26/03/2026, a lady aged 21 years reported at Ifo Division that she had been subjected to sexual abuse by her biological father.
“During this period, she became pregnant five times, and her father reportedly procured abortion for each pregnancy.
“Thanks to the swift and decisive leadership of CSP Kamorudeen, DPO Ifo, operatives of the Ifo Division acted immediately on a tip-off and successfully arrested the suspect, Oluwadamilare Ewedemi.”
Babaseyi added that Ewedemi remained in custody and that the case had been referred to the Gender Desk for thorough investigation and prosecution as preliminary enquiries continued.
