The Okarufe Cultural Foundation has highlighted its achievements and unveiled new welfare initiatives, including a group life insurance scheme, at its 2025 Annual General Meeting held virtually on Sunday.
President of the foundation, Akinrogun Alaba Yusuf, while presenting the annual report, said the organisation recorded significant strides in community development, healthcare intervention and educational support during the period under review.
He noted that the foundation’s operations were guided by transparency, accountability and strict compliance with its constitution, as reflected in its audited financial report made available to members.
Yusuf disclosed that the group introduced a life insurance policy for members, adding that a beneficiary recently received N1m after a deceased member paid a premium of N7,500.
“Our activities are built on responsibility, probity and accountability. We have ensured that every programme aligns with our vision of unity and socio-cultural development,” he said.
He also listed interventions such as medical outreach programmes, support for vulnerable members, provision of essential amenities and sustained promotion of cultural heritage across Okaland.
“In addition to our welfare programmes, we introduced a group life insurance scheme that has proven effective, as seen in the prompt settlement of claims to beneficiaries,” he added.
The OCF president said the organisation remained non-political and non-profit, relying on members’ dues and donations to fund its activities, while calling for greater participation.
“We need more support from members to expand our reach. The vision is clear, but its realisation depends on collective commitment,” Yusuf said.
He commended the Olubaka of Oka Kingdom, Oba Yusuf Adeleye, alongside trustees, patrons and stakeholders for their continued support, urging members to stay engaged in the foundation’s programmes.
