The Secretary-General of Afenifere, Chief Sola Ebiseni, has declared support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027 and indicated his readiness to work with the All Progressives Congress.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Chief Press Secretary to the Ondo State Governor, Prince Ebenezer Adeniyan, after Ebiseni met Governor Lucky Aiyedatiwa at the Government House, Akure.
Aiyedatiwa, who met with Ebiseni alongside the state APC Chairman, Kolawole Babatunde, assured the Afenifere leader and his supporters of their integration into the party’s campaign structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The governor said Ebiseni’s political activities across Ondo State, experience as a former chairman of the old Ilaje-Ese-Odo Local Government and service as a commissioner in the state would add value to the campaign for Tinubu’s second term.
Aiyedatiwa also cited Ebiseni’s position as Afenifere Secretary-General and his involvement in other socio-cultural organisations, saying his network and experience would be useful to the tasks ahead.
Ebiseni, a former Labour Party chieftain who served as the South-West Coordinator of Peter Obi’s Presidential Campaign Council in the 2023 election, said his decision to support Tinubu was based on the need for continuity and political stability.
He argued that Tinubu’s policies and programmes were already established and should be given more time to yield results, rather than being replaced by a new administration and fresh policies. He also cited the Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway as particularly important to the Ilaje coastal communities in Ondo State.
Ebiseni said he and his supporters would support the President’s re-election, while urging the full implementation of the coastal highway project, particularly its alignment through Ondo State. He also said policies such as State Police and the expansion of Nigerian Army divisions required time to produce their expected benefits.
