The Anambra State Police Command has arrested a 36-year-old woman, Anulika Onyeanusia, following the emergence of a disturbing video allegedly showing the sexual abuse of a minor in Onitsha.
The arrest followed intelligence gathered by the police after the video, which allegedly depicted the use of sex toys on a child, began circulating online and attracted public concern.
The command said its operatives, acting on the information on September 10, 2026, apprehended the suspect in Onitsha and rescued four children aged two, three, six and nine years.
The police also recovered sex toys and other items believed to be relevant to the investigation, while the suspect was taken into custody for questioning.
The command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, said the investigation was being expanded to establish the circumstances surrounding the alleged abuse and determine whether other people were involved.
He added that the suspect’s husband was also being questioned by investigators to ascertain whether he had any connection with the alleged offence.
According to Ikenga, the Commissioner of Police, Anambra State Command, CP Nnanna Oji, ordered a comprehensive investigation, describing the alleged exploitation of children as unacceptable.
The police commissioner also directed that the rescued children be protected and given appropriate care, counselling and other necessary support while efforts are made to establish the facts of the case.
The command said it would work with child-protection agencies and other relevant organisations to safeguard the children’s welfare and protect their identities throughout the investigation, while commending residents, vigilante operatives and others whose information helped the police make the arrest.
