Nigerian man arrested after fake 911 emergency over $63 restaurant bill

A Nigerian man, identified as Abdul Rasheed, has been arrested in Georgia, United States, after allegedly placing a 911 call and pretending to be ill in an attempt to avoid paying a $63 restaurant bill.

Rasheed reportedly ate at a Red Lobster restaurant in Douglas County before allegedly deciding not to settle the bill. He subsequently contacted emergency services and claimed that he was sick, according to a report by the New York Post.

The incident occurred in Douglas County, Georgia, where law enforcement authorities later took Rasheed into custody last Thursday following the emergency call.

According to the report, emergency responders went to his residence expecting to find someone in need of medical attention but allegedly discovered that he was not ill.

Authorities said the Nigerian had been attempting to use the emergency call as a means of avoiding payment for the meal he had consumed at the restaurant.

Rasheed was subsequently booked into the Douglas County Jail on allegations of theft of services and unlawful conduct involving a 911 call.

He was being held at the facility on a $3,000 bond, according to the report.

Rather than being taken to a hospital for treatment as he had reportedly requested, Rasheed was taken into police custody and transported to the county jail.
