The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Ondo State, Dr Olukayode Ajulo (SAN), has called on youths across the South-West to prioritise innovation, ethical leadership and strategic preparation as essential tools for navigating future challenges.
Ajulo made the call while delivering a keynote address at the Southwest Youth Summit 4.0 held at the International Culture and Event Centre, Akure, where he stressed the need for a proactive and purpose-driven generation.
Speaking on the theme, “Driving Lasting Impact: Anticipating and Preparing Youth for Tomorrow’s Challenges,” the Attorney General said the future requires deliberate planning and disciplined action, rather than passive expectation.
He noted that young people must equip themselves with relevant skills and foresight to thrive in an increasingly complex global environment shaped by rapid technological advancement and socio-economic changes.
Ajulo identified key issues confronting youths, including technological disruptions, climate change, economic shifts, governance challenges and rising social pressures, urging them to adopt what he described as a “renaissance mindset” that combines local knowledge with global innovation.
Highlighting government efforts aimed at youth development, he commended President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for prioritising young people through initiatives under the Renewed Hope Agenda, particularly programmes targeted at skills development and entrepreneurship.
He also lauded Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, for implementing youth-focused policies such as skill acquisition schemes, enterprise support initiatives and the establishment of development centres to boost economic opportunities.
According to him, such interventions demonstrate a commitment to empowering young people and positioning them for meaningful contributions to national development.
Ajulo urged youths to uphold integrity and discipline while striving to become innovators and leaders capable of driving positive change in their communities.
He further encouraged them to translate ideas into action, stressing that the future belongs to individuals who prepare adequately and act with purpose.
