A House of Representatives aspirant for Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency, Hon. Akingbola Ebenezer Akintunde, has resigned his membership of the African Democratic Congress in Ondo State, citing unresolved internal disputes within the party.
Akintunde announced his resignation in a letter dated May 6, 2026, addressed to the Ward Chairman of the ADC in Akoko North East Local Government Area of the state.
In the letter, the politician said his resignation takes immediate effect.
He attributed his decision to what he described as persistent internal litigations and instability within the party, noting that the situation had made it difficult for him to continue active participation in ADC activities.
The letter read in part, “As an aspirant for the House of Representatives representing Akoko North East/North West Federal Constituency under the platform of the party, this decision has not been made lightly.
“However, the ongoing internal litigations, coupled with persistent instability within the party, has made it increasingly difficult for me to continue my active participation and commitment under the current circumstances.”
Akintunde further stated that although he believed in the ideals of democratic governance and had hoped to contribute meaningfully through the platform of the party, the prevailing situation had hindered his political aspirations.
“I believe strongly in the ideals of democratic governance and had hoped to contribute positively through the platform of the party. Unfortunately, the prevailing situation has hindered that aspiration and created an environment that no longer aligns with my expectations for political engagement and service,” he stated.
The aspirant expressed appreciation to the party for the opportunity given to him to serve as a member and aspirant.
He also wished the ADC success in resolving its internal challenges and achieving progress.
“Kindly accept this letter as my formal withdrawal from all party activities and records,” the letter added.
