A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress and House of Assembly hopeful for Akoko South West Constituency II, Hon. Niran Olanusi, has congratulated the people of Akungba-Akoko on the celebration of Akungba Day 2026, urging residents to remain united in the pursuit of sustainable development.
Olanusi, in a goodwill message issued to commemorate the annual festival, described the event as a celebration of the community's rich cultural heritage and a reminder of the need for collective commitment to its growth and progress.
He commended the Alale of Akungbaland, Oba Isiaka Oseni Adu, traditional chiefs, community leaders, youths, traders and other stakeholders for preserving the cultural values that have continued to project Akungba as a notable town in Ondo State.
According to him, the annual celebration should serve not only as a cultural festival but also as an opportunity for the community to review its developmental strides and chart a new course for the future.
Olanusi noted that Akungba remains a centre of education, commerce and hospitality, stressing that peace, unity and cooperation among residents are essential to achieving meaningful development.
"Akungba is the home of learning, commerce and hospitality. What we do here reflects on the entire Akoko South West. This celebration reminds us that lasting development can only be achieved through unity, peace and the collective efforts of our people," he said.
The APC aspirant also pledged that, if elected into the Ondo State House of Assembly in 2027, he would prioritise quality education, youth empowerment, rural infrastructure and support for small and medium-scale enterprises across the constituency.
He further urged residents to remain politically conscious and support leaders with integrity, competence and a genuine commitment to grassroots development.
"Leadership is about service. My aspiration is driven by the desire to provide purposeful representation that will attract more government presence and create opportunities for the people of Akoko South West Constituency II," Olanusi added.
The Akungba Day celebration featured cultural performances, recognition of distinguished indigenes, fundraising for community development projects and a lecture focused on promoting education and enterprise as tools for the town's future growth.
