Former Minister of Science and Technology, Uche Nnaji, was on Wednesday arrested at the Akanu Ibiam International Airport, Enugu, while preparing to board a chartered flight to Abuja.
Sources said the former minister was taken into custody at the airport by security operatives before his scheduled departure.
It was gathered that Nnaji is expected to be handed over to the Independent Corrupt Practices and Other Related Offences Commission for questioning.
The anti-graft agency had reportedly been investigating the former minister over allegations that he forged his academic certificates.
The probe is said to have commenced before Nnaji resigned from office last year following the emergence of the allegations.
As of the time of filing this report, neither the ICPC nor Nnaji had issued an official statement on the arrest or the allegations.
