The family of a Nigerian woman, Christiana Nwosu, has launched a fundraising campaign to return her remains to Nigeria after she reportedly died of cardiac arrest while on a visit to the United Kingdom.
The appeal, initiated through GoFundMe and signed by Chijioke Metuka on behalf of the family, disclosed that Nwosu died on July 19, 2026, leaving her children and relatives devastated by her sudden passing.
According to the organisers, the family's desire is to bury the deceased in her homeland, where she can be laid to rest alongside her extended family.
The appeal explained that transporting her remains from the UK to Nigeria would cost about £10,000, covering expenses such as funeral director services, repatriation documentation, air freight, local transportation and burial arrangements.
"We established this fund to support Izuchukwu and the entire family through this difficult period. Every contribution, regardless of the amount, will go directly towards the cost of bringing her remains home and giving her a dignified burial," the organisers said.
The family also appealed to members of the public who may be unable to make financial donations to assist by sharing the fundraising campaign to reach more people.
They expressed appreciation to everyone who had supported the initiative, describing every donation and gesture of kindness as a source of comfort during their period of grief.
As of the time the appeal was referenced, the campaign had raised £7,941 out of its £10,000 target.
The development comes months after another Nigerian family launched a similar fundraising drive to repatriate the remains of a woman who died in the UK while attending her son's graduation ceremony.
