Over 800 members of the Asiwaju Mandate Group, a support group within the All Progressives Congress, have pledged to mobilise massive votes for President Bola Tinubu and other APC candidates in the 2027 general elections.

The pledge was made on Wednesday during the inauguration of ward executives of the group in Akoko South-West Local Government Area of Ondo State. The executives were mandated to strengthen the group’s presence across the 15 wards and subsequently establish structures at the various polling units.

Speaking at the meeting held in Oka-Akoko, the Deputy Director General of AMG, Augustine Oloruntogbe, said AMG was established in March 2024 to mobilise support for President Tinubu and candidates endorsed by the APC leadership.

Oloruntogbe who is also a former Local Government Chairman, said the group had continued to expand its grassroots structure, with officials now operating at the unit, ward, local government and state levels.

He said, “AMG was formed in March 2024, and the purpose was to begin to work for whoever was adopted or endorsed by the President and the APC. The interest of the President supersedes individual interests.”

The former council chairman said the group had commenced extensive mobilisation across Akoko South-West, adding that its strategy was to reach voters directly at the grassroots.

He said, “We have our structure from the unit level. We have officials in every unit, ward and local government. We are not just a group moving around; we are residing with the people.”

Oloruntogbe explained that the ward executives inaugurated at the meeting would return to their respective wards and coordinate the formation of unit-level structures ahead of the election.

He said, “From the ward level, the ward executives will commission the unit level to start their meetings at the units where we vote. Every polling booth where we vote is where we are going to work. That is our target — every unit.”

He expressed confidence in the ability of the group to deliver substantial votes for Tinubu, saying its grassroots structure would enable members to identify and engage voters across the various polling units.

Oloruntogbe said more than 800 participants at the meeting had voluntarily committed themselves to the group’s political activities and would return to their communities to mobilise additional support.

He added, “We have over 800 people here today. All of them will go back to their wards and tell the people what they have learnt. They will begin to talk to people, and before you know it, the message will spread.”

Also speaking, the Akoko South-West coordinator of AMG, Olumide Aduloju, said the group was committed to supporting Tinubu and all APC candidates in the 2027 elections.

Aduloju said AMG was targeting one million votes for Tinubu in Ondo State and other candidates such as Ipinsagba, Adefarati, and others, while urging the party leadership to reconcile members who were aggrieved following the last primary elections.

He said, “Our aim and objective is to support President Bola Tinubu and all APC candidates. We are very sure of victory, but the party must reconcile all the aggrieved aspirants who contested in the last primary election.”

A former Vice Chairman of the council, Oke Hezekiah, also urged APC members to intensify mobilisation ahead of the elections, expressing confidence that the party would retain its strong position in the state.

“My advice to APC members is to work and mobilise so that our President, Senate, House of Representatives and House of Assembly candidates can win massively,” he said.

Similarly, a former councillor representing Ward 13, Wale Oriyomi, commended the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, for his support for the party and expressed optimism that Tinubu and other APC candidates would emerge victorious.

One of the participants, who identified himself as Segun, called for unity among APC members, urging party leaders and supporters to close ranks and work together towards the success of the party in the 2027 general elections.
