Abdulrahman Bashir Haske, a prominent political figure in Adamawa State and former APC governorship aspirant, is reportedly set to leave the All Progressives Congress for the Allied Peoples Movement ahead of the 2027 general elections.
The development was disclosed by one of Haske’s political associates, Alhaji Hussaini Ahmadu Har, who indicated that consultations and mobilisation for the proposed defection were already at an advanced stage.
Har, in a post on his verified Facebook page, shared a photograph of Haske alongside the APM logo, describing the emerging political movement as a “fight to finish” and urging supporters to join what he called a train of victory.
“Abdulrahman Haske is coming in 2027 and, God willing, he will win,” Har stated in the post.
The associate further claimed that some loyalists of Haske had already left the APC and moved into the APM ahead of the expected formal announcement.
Haske was among the prominent aspirants who contested for the APC governorship ticket in Adamawa ahead of the 2023 election. His political influence and grassroots support had generated considerable attention during the party’s internal contest.
However, despite expectations in some quarters that he could emerge as the party’s candidate, he ultimately failed to secure the APC ticket after the primary election.
Sources close to the political camp said Haske’s reported movement to the APM could trigger a wider realignment ahead of the 2027 elections, with supporters and associates allegedly considering moves away from the APC and other political parties.
The development comes amid growing political manoeuvring in Adamawa as politicians and their supporters position themselves ahead of the 2027 polls. Further details on Haske’s reported defection and the political structure backing the move are expected to emerge as consultations continue.
