The National Leader of the Allied Peoples Movement, Bala Mohammed, has urged Nigerians not to dismiss the presidential ambition of the party’s candidate, Seyi Makinde, ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Mohammed, who is the Bauchi State Governor, made the call on Monday at the inauguration of the APM presidential campaign office in Abuja, where he presented the party as a platform seeking to bring a new direction to the country.
The governor said the establishment of the campaign office demonstrated the seriousness of the party and its determination to mount a strong challenge in the 2027 presidential contest.
According to him, Makinde’s record in Oyo State had demonstrated his ability to manage resources and deliver development despite operating with limited means.
Mohammed described the former Oyo State governor as an accomplished engineer, administrator and political mobiliser capable of making a significant impact at the national level.
He said Makinde had transformed areas that previously suffered neglect in Oyo State through projects and urban renewal initiatives.
The APM leader also praised the party’s leadership, noting that its national chairman had distinguished himself within the political space while also serving as the chairman of the Inter-Party Advisory Council.
Mohammed maintained that the party was entering the 2027 race with a clear agenda and would not be intimidated by the strength or popularity of other political parties and their candidates.
He urged political opponents and Nigerians to pay attention to the APM, warning that underestimating Makinde could prove costly during the election.
The governor said the party was banking on Makinde’s experience and leadership capacity to attract Nigerians seeking an alternative to the existing political order.
He added that the APM’s campaign would be focused on presenting its candidate and his programmes to voters across the country as the 2027 elections approach.
