Back-to-school: Ondo Rep, Akingbaso distributes learning materials to Ifedore students

Students and school officials in Ifedore Local Government Area of Ondo State have received educational materials distributed under the fourth edition of the FESSY WEST back-to-school initiative sponsored by the member representing Idanre/Ifedore Federal Constituency in the House of Representatives, Hon. Festus Akingbaso.

The materials were handed over to representatives of public secondary schools at Ibulesoro Town Hall, Ibulesoro, on Wednesday, with principals, management staff and students from various schools attending the exercise.

The programme, which followed a similar distribution in Idanre on Tuesday, was attended by education stakeholders, including the State Scribe of the Association of Nigerian Conference of Principals of Secondary Schools, Mr Ohome, popularly known as Mr Ilu; the ANCOPS Treasurer in Ifedore, Mr Taiwo Olafisoye; and the Area Education Officer, Mrs Tolani Adeniyi.

Akingbaso, who also serves as Deputy Chairman of the House Committee on Aviation, was represented at the event by his Senior Legislative Aide, Hon. Oluwole Fakologbon, alongside other members of his legislative team.

Speaking at the gathering, Adeniyi expressed appreciation for the intervention and urged the beneficiaries to take their studies seriously and make productive use of the materials provided.

She encouraged the students to maintain high academic standards, stressing that educational support should motivate them to become responsible members of society who could also contribute positively to their communities in the future.

Also speaking, Ohome described Akingbaso as a supporter of education and commended the initiative. Olafisoye similarly acknowledged the intervention, describing the lawmaker as supportive of students and young people.

In his remarks, Fakologbon conveyed Akingbaso's appreciation to the education authorities, principals, teachers and students for their participation.

He also highlighted some of the lawmaker's interventions, saying stronger representation at the National Assembly would provide greater opportunity to pursue development-related initiatives.

Dr Lasisi, in his contribution, commended the programme and called for more interventions and advocacy in the education sector. He noted that the initiative had previously been held in Ifedore and had now reached its fourth edition.

The event ended with the formal presentation of the educational materials to the Area Education Officer and representatives of the participating schools for onward distribution to the students.

The beneficiaries expressed appreciation for the intervention as the programme came to a close at the Ibulesoro venue.
