The search for better economic opportunities abroad has ended in tragedy for four young men from Yusufari Local Government Area of Yobe State, who reportedly died in Algeria.
The victims, all from Garin Tsangai in Moyori Ward, were said to have travelled to the North African country in pursuit of means of livelihood and improved prospects for their families.
The death of the four men was disclosed by the Chairman of Yusufari Local Government, Adam Jibrin, in a condolence statement issued on Tuesday.
Jibrin said the incident had thrown the victims’ families and the Tsangai community into mourning, describing the deaths as a painful loss to the local government.
The council chairman extended his sympathy to the parents, brothers, sisters, relatives and friends of the deceased, while praying for strength for those affected by the tragedy.
He said the young men had embarked on the journey with hopes of building better lives for themselves and their loved ones, making their deaths particularly painful for the community.
Jibrin also prayed for the safe journeys of other young people leaving the country in search of opportunities, asking God to protect them from similar tragedies.
He further prayed for the repose of the four deceased and urged the bereaved families and the people of Yusufari to find strength to cope with the loss.
