The Ondo State Governor, Lucky Aiyedatiwa, has charged members of the Tinubu Torch Bearers to intensify grassroots mobilisation and take the Renewed Hope agenda to communities across the state ahead of the 2027 general elections.
Aiyedatiwa gave the charge on Tuesday through his Deputy, Dr Olayide Adelami, during the inauguration of the Ondo State chapter of the Tinubu Torch Bearers at the Dome in Akure.
The governor, in a statement by the Deputy Governor’s spokesperson, John Paul Akinduro, reaffirmed the state’s support for President Bola Tinubu’s re-election bid, saying continuity was important to sustain and consolidate the Federal Government’s ongoing reforms and programmes.
He said Ondo had benefited from collaboration with the Federal Government through various policies and interventions that complemented the state’s development efforts.
Aiyedatiwa urged members of the All Progressives Congress to engage residents at the grassroots through direct community outreach and door-to-door mobilisation. He also highlighted federal interventions in roads, rail, bridges and power as areas of development under the Tinubu administration.
The governor recalled the economic difficulties inherited by the Federal Government in 2023, including fiscal pressures, revenue challenges, exchange-rate distortions, debt-servicing obligations and energy constraints, noting that reforms had subsequently been introduced to address the challenges.
The APC National Women Leader and coordinator of the TTB, Dr Mary Alile Idele, said the initiative was established to deepen the Renewed Hope message at the grassroots. She urged members to mobilise communities while promoting voter education and participation.
The governor’s wife, Mrs Oluwaseun Aiyedatiwa, highlighted the role of the initiative in mobilising women and pledged continued attention to their empowerment and welfare. The event also featured the presentation of cheques and empowerment items to selected women, with APC state chairman, Babatunde Kolawole, and other dignitaries in attendance.
