Councillor dies after days in kidnappers’ captivity



A councillor representing Ogugu Ward III in Olamaboro Local Government Area of Kogi State, Rosemary Aduku, has died after spending several days in captivity.

Her death was announced on Friday by the local government chairman, Dr Ameh Williams, in a statement issued on behalf of the Olamaboro Local Government Executive Council.

Aduku, popularly known as Hon. Rosella among her colleagues, was described by Williams as a humble and dependable politician who was committed to the welfare and happiness of those around her.

The chairman said her death was a painful loss to the local government, the legislative council and the Ogugu community, noting that her contributions and positive relationships with people would remain part of her legacy.

He expressed condolences to her family, colleagues in the eighth Olamaboro Legislative Council, members of the executive council and residents of the Ogugu district, while praying for strength for them to cope with the loss.

The statement also announced that the deceased would be buried at 1pm on Friday at her family compound in Ogugu town.

Williams called on members of the All Progressives Congress to attend the burial and join the community in paying their last respects to the late councillor.
