JAMB moves 2027 UTME first-session reporting to 7:30am

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board has moved the reporting time for candidates taking the first session of the 2027 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination to 7:30am.

Under the revised timetable, candidates will now be required to arrive at their assigned Computer-Based Test centres one hour later than the previously scheduled 6:30am reporting time.

The examination itself is scheduled to begin at 8:30am and end at 10:30am, according to the board.

JAMB announced the adjustment in its weekly bulletin released in Abuja, explaining that the decision was influenced by safety and logistical concerns surrounding early-morning movement by candidates.

The board noted that some candidates travel long distances to their examination centres and could be forced to leave their homes before dawn under the earlier arrangement.

It said the revised schedule followed discussions at its 2026 Management and Information Technology Retreat held in Ikot Ekpene, Akwa Ibom State, between September 6 and 11.

According to JAMB, concerns raised during the retreat included the difficulties candidates might encounter while travelling to CBT centres in the early hours of the morning.

The board said the later reporting time was intended to make the examination process safer and more convenient for candidates.

JAMB added that the adjustment could also help reduce absenteeism among candidates who might otherwise struggle to reach their centres because of the previous early reporting requirement.
